Never Stop Running...

In what was hopefully the first of many cheesy taglines, Surviving the Glen is the story of Pike Hardson (Paul Morris), fighting a one man war in the forest against heavily armed mercenaries led by Mr Smith (Ryan McKay). The original project was conceived by Paul Morris (who saw Ice T movie Surviving The Game once), and largely written and directed by Rory Baldwin (who didn't). The editing was done using Adobe Premiere on a PC by Richard Clifford. The main guy getting clotheslined, throwing himself off hills, falling over and running about is Doug Hamilton, amateur stuntman extraordinaire.

Everyone always says never make action movies or period dramas with no budget. We said "who cares" ...unfortunately after about 4 weekends worth of shooting all we managed to salvage was a one minute trailer. Still, our slightly undersize kiddie toy MP5s spray-painted black look pretty good. Although it's hardly Enemy Of The State (in the woods), for a first attempt it looks ok. Even after all the footage survived being dropped in the stream during Paul's unauthorised adventure for some second unit footage. Our first attempt at wielding a camera in anger, but a great argument for just getting out and shooting anything, as the craic was excellent. Unfortunately the Millenium Falcon cargo hold tribute shot didn't make it. Shot on VHS with everyone taking turns at camera operating, plus we had a microphone on a stick for sound.
